A Dirty Bottle with Clean Water By: Beth Landrum

If you ever travel with me in my car you will find treasures . It could be pieces of jewelry, hygiene items, bottles of water and my famous green teas.

I am mostly aware of items lurking inside but occasionally I am surprised.

This particular day I got in my car and had a surplus of empty bottles that had held water or green tea laying in my floorboard. I cleaned them out and there was a bottle of water that hadn't been opened. Prior to coming outside I had taken my morning pills. Have you ever taken pills and it feels like you need to just have one more drink to get them down? That was me on that particular morning. I reached for that unopened bottle. The outside of the bottle was a bit dirty but I knew the inside was good. I opened that bottled and took a swig of that cool sweet water. What was on the outside had not penetrated into what was on the inside of the bottle.

God has called us to a higher place than this old world. We are to serve the least of our society. Those we come in contact with may not be your first choice to be with . You see God doesn't care what we look like or smell like. He knows our hearts and our hurts.

Just like that dirty bottle what was on the inside was good.

Far too many times we miss the opportunity to serve because of what we see.

I pray we see thru the eyes of Jesus.

That our noses smell the sweet aroma of salvation.

That our hearts long to be with all of those who need the beautification that can only come from Jesus.
